neverhadgoodtiming
Age: 27
Appearance: A big golden retriever who wears lumpy sweaters. Raleigh isn't a little guy. He's broad and tall, years of intense military-esque training, plus moving an enormous robot, and building a giant wall kept him in fighting condition. He's 6'1 and can flip a grown man over his back. Raleigh tends to wear neutral colors, though his sweaters range on the darker end from dark blue to black. And yes, the boy wears sweaters out of choice and not just necessity.
History: History
Powers/Talents: Raleigh isn't a born leader. He grew up a relatively scrappy kid with no real athletic or academic prowess to speak of, but he time and again stepped up to the plate and did what was asked of him. The few fighting skills he had during childhood were refined and now possesses the same set of fighting skills any Ranger would have once passing through the Jaeger Academy. Plus the rare ability to be Drift compatible.
Personality:

[actual Raleigh Becket].
Raleigh is a puppy. He's loyal and earnest and extremely hard to shake loose once you got his attention and respect. What isn't always apparent is if you HAVE his respect because he fights tooth and nail for what he believes is right. But surprisingly, Raleigh is incredibly patient and tolerant and above all respectful of others boundaries when given them. It took a lot of growing up to get there, but he no longer leaps head first into situations without truly considering the outcomes and he understands that no matter where his decisions lead, he has to stick by them and take responsibility.
Overall, Raleigh is a decent, good-hearted person, who despite experiencing the worst kind of tragedy, worked through his pain as best he could and went back to his old position when asked.
Raleigh wants nothing more than to be able to stay in one place and live his life on his own terms with people he loves. He grew up bouncing between continents and cities and now wants a place he can call home and have that home be safe. Raleigh's greatest fear is losing Mako's respect, losing Mako terrifies him in a bone deep soul-scarring way. She is his co-pilot, his right hand and left brain and he hasn't met anyone who moved him quite like she does.
During his five year stint building a pointless barricade between the Pacific and the Alaskan coast, many viewed him as a quitter, a loser, and he didn't do much to push people into thinking otherwise. His home was in a Jaeger, but he couldn't go back after his brother died and he never wanted to explain to people who were already dead-set on judging him how it felt to have Yancy ripped from him. That those kinds of scars aren't visible, that he couldn't sleep without vividly remembering the exact moment of disconnect before his brother got thrown into the sea.
Most who know him think he's reliable and even-tempered. That he's kind and willing to take on the brunt of the harder work, and all of that is true. He is an open guy. He doesn't have any real secrets to hide and he isn't all that complicated to figure out.
Why would your character be chosen? His loyalty would be the biggest draw, but it would be his drift compatibility that makes him unique. It takes a special kind of individual to be able to pick back up the pieces of your life and push forward and accept someone else back into your mind after being hurt. This could be seen as appealing.
How much does your character know about nonhumans? He knows they exist. Just hasn't met any that weren't trying to kill him and all of humanity. (He hopes the nice kind do otherwise the universe is truly unfair.)
Why this character: He is a PUPPY. I have a very distinct character type and men who are flawed but responsible and deeply, deeply loyal always appeal to me. The last character I played like this I played for over five years. And with only one viewing of the film, I have already been playing Raleigh for two months.

[Raleigh cannot sound more stressed or agitated if he tried. His pacing is audible: loud and clunky because he is stuck in his Drive suit and he isn't trusting anyone who doesn't know what they're doing to get him out.
He doesn't trust himself.]
Just let me know you're okay.
